Sergio Busquets, a member of the golden generation, is arguably the last surviving player from Barcelona’s storied Pep Guardiola squad
The club’s current captain is a Spaniard, but with fewer than six months left on his contract, his future is in doubt. Strong rumours suggested that Busi’s future lay with Inter Miami in the MLS, and he appeared determined to leave. However, Xavi is making every effort to persuade the player to extend his contract for a another year.
Busquets has reportedly been urged by Barcelona’s coach to sign on for an additional year, according to Helena Condis. He wants him to continue playing until the team is financially stable enough to find a long-term replacement since he feels there is no one in the squad who can take his place directly.
Meanwhile, Busquets has unquestionable offers on the table. Saudi Arabian clubs appear to be interested in hiring him. According to the source, one of the most recent compensation offers he has received is close to €20 million every season.
But the skipper hasn’t made up his mind about the future yet. mostly because Barcelona hasn’t made an official extension offer to him. Additionally, he is aware that accepting a pay cut would prevent him from staying with the Catalan giants.
Xavi has made it known that he wants to keep coaching Busquets. He spoke about it during his most recent pre-game presser before Barcelona vs. Sevilla. Barça appears to be undecided between two players in terms of replacements. Xavi favours Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, but club president Joan Laporta thinks Ruben Neves of Wolverhampton Wanderers will be a superior choice.
