Xavi Hernandez bowed out with a direct jibe at Barcelona president Laporta.
Xavi Hernandez is not happy with the Barcelona board and the ex-manager hit out at the club hierarchy. He has given a final goodbye to the club.
Catalan giants finished as runner-ups in La Liga and finished Xavi’s stint with a win over Sevilla on Sunday. It was a trophyless season for Barcelona. They were also eliminated in the knockout round of the Champions League.
Xavi’s removal from the Barcelona bench has caused major controversy in recent days. He was earlier convinced to reverse his decision to step down last month. Club president Joan Laporta opted to sack him.
Now, the former Barcelona player bowed out with a direct jibe at Laporta and said as per quotes from Diario AS, “It’s not a feeling of liberation because I wanted to continue here. These are decisions made by the club. I understand and respect them, but I thought this was not over.”
“It’s not my place to say the reasons for my exit. I think the president is the one who has to talk.”
Barcelona are now linked with former Bayern Munich and Germany Hansi Flick manager as a replacement of Xavi.
