Xavi breaks silence on Lionel Messi’s return to Barcelona.
The PSG superstar will be out of contract by the end of this season and has left the doors open for a sensational return to Barcelona.
He left Camp Nou in the summer of 2021 for Paris Saint-Germain where he scored 55 goals in 61 matches in all competitions.
The World Cup winner will be out of contract in the summer and PSG have already tabled an extension offer for the Argentine.
According to reports, Messi’s father met with Barcelona president Joan Laporta recently.
Clubs in Saudia Arabia and Inter Miami CF are also interested in signing the 35-year-old forward.
Barcelona manager Xavi was asked about Messi’s potential return to Camp Nou.
“This is his home and the door is always open,” Xavi said in a news conference.
“[Messi] is a friend and we are in permanent contact. It depends on what he wants for his future and how the club see it. He is the best player in the world and the best ever. He would always fit [the team].”
