Alena has been facing very less game time with the Catalan club, and that was one of the main reason for him to make a move, hence going on loan in the winter itself.
“I left because I could see it was tough to (play regularly) at Barcelona. The coach told me that he trusted me, that I could play,” he said.
“But then, in October, November, I had many games without being called-up and decided that I wanted to leave. It is true that in the last month I played more, but the decision had already been made.
“I don’t know if Valverde was surprised or not. I know I told him that I wanted to come to Betis, what I didn’t think was that it would happen this fast. In summer there was Betis interest, but it did not work out and in December I knew that I wanted to come to Betis.”
Alena admitted further that he hopes for 6 months of ‘glory’ at Real Betis and wishes to make an impact there with his increased game time.
