Barcelona Transfers History 2020: Possible signings in January
It is pretty obvious that a club like Barcelona are not going to sit back and watch their team lose.
Currently under Ernesto Valverde Barcelona are still at the top of the league in Spain. However, the threat which the Barcelona teams from the past years had is now gone.
They do not even play a lot like Barcelona any more. Most of these teams do not have the possession game style which teams before Valverde had.
This Barcelona team has weird players like Arturo Vidal who are in general very good. However, they do not fit the Barcelona bill at all. Hence, it is pretty obvious that players will be targeted by Barcelona.
They need also a revamp of the squad as the champions squad made by Pep Guardiola is now getting old. Already the likes of David Villa, Dani Alves Xavi and Iniesta have retired from the game. The next batch of stars like Gerard Pique and Sergio Busqets are now getting old. Then there is the perennial Lionel Messi who is not young anymore.
Hence they will need to keep spending at this moment to replace their players.
Barcelona Transfers History 2020: Will they sign Neymar?
Barcelona are reportedly still in the race for Neymar. The Barcelona team signed Neymar for the first time back in 2013. They were lucky to land the former Santos stars with almost every big club in Europe including Real Madrid chasing his signature.
It was a match made in heaven as Messi and Neymar wreaked havoc in the Barcelona forward line. Joined by Luis Suarez, the South American trio of MSN, were unstoppable in Europe as they conquered it all.
However, Neymar had a personal agenda to become the best player in the world. So he decided to leave Barcelona and join PSG, where he was being offered the world. Despite Barcelona’s best attempts, Neymar left.
He became the world’s most expensive player as PSG dug deep into their pockets to bring the Brazilian. His move was supposed to see him become the best in the world but the move failed spectacularly.
Neymar was no longer even in the top 10 good players in the world. PSG finally lost their patience with the talented but erratic star and decided to sell him for good. However, they were super angry when Neymar went public with his desire to head back to Barcelona.
Barcelona were also interested to sign their prodigal son back but transfer budget restraint and PSG’s stubborness meant that a deal was never stuck. However, they will get a chance again now as they enter the January market to address the Neymar issue. Neymar will seamlessly be able to replace Suarez this time and allow new man Griezmann to play centre.
