Messi has been heavily linked with a return to Spain which may now be in the cards.

Lionel Messi’s decision to take a trip to Saudi Arabia has put him in the hot seat with Paris Saint-Germain.

A French outlet reported that the star’s trip following a loss to Lorient was an unauthorized decision.

The club has now confirmed to AFP that they “have opened a disciplinary procedure” against Messi, with various French outlets claiming he will be suspended for two weeks.

With the suspension, Messi will therefore miss games against Troyes and AC Ajaccio and will not train or be paid during this time. He will return to face Auxerre, which is scheduled to take place on 21 May.

The former Barcelona star has been heavily linked with a return to Spain which may now be in the cards.
