Gini Wijnaldum has spoken about the interest of Barcelona from his end.

The Dutch midfielder who turned 29 this year has a contract with Liverpool which expires next summer.

Barcelona appointed Ronald Koeman as head coach this summer, who has brought about a series of changes at the club. The manager also wants a new profile of players at the club.

One of those players, the Dutchman is seeking is Wijnaldum.

His running ability, tenacity to cover from box to box and be vibrant all match has made him a key asset to Liverpool and Barcelona now want that.

It has also helped that Wijnaldum and Koeman worked together in the national camp as player and coach.

However, Wijnaldum has made light of the situation, although not dismissed it completely.

He said, “I don’t think it was that serious, otherwise you would have read a bit more, or more would have happened. There was nothing concrete, I didn’t have to think about it. I will stay on what it looks like now. It can of course change in the coming months, you never know that with football.”

In 10 months, a lot can change in football.
