Gavi will not take part in the 2023/24 season due to injury.
Barcelona’s sporting director Deco has revealed that his club will find a replacement for Gavi during the winter transfer window. Gavi had a knee injury during the Euro 2024 qualification match with Georgia on Sunday.
The 19-year-old will not take part in the 2023/24 season. As per the Daily Mail, Barca are not expected to sign a permanent replacement for the young midfielder in the winter.
Barcelona can instead plan a loan move for one player who can solve midfield issues. Tottenham’s Giovani Lo Celso is viewed as a potential option. He could join on loan for the second half of the season.
Deco spoke to EFE, “A new scenario arises and we are going to evaluate it according to what we can do. We are looking at what we can do financially.”
“In January, the important players play in their teams and I don’t see it as easy to sign an important player who can bring us things in the winter market.”
Gavi has made 15 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals and one assist in the process.
