Lamine Yamal has signed a new three-year deal with the Catalan giants.

The talented teenager has committed to fresh terms until the summer of 2026 and his contract contains a buyout clause set at 1 billion euros.

Barcelona’s latest wonderkid has already broken records for club and country and made eight La Liga appearances this season.

Barcelona will face Porto on Wednesday night and Yamal could become the youngest player to ever score in the Champions League.

The La Masia product has been drawn comparisons with club legend Lionel Messi but manager Xavi refuses to acknowledge any of it.

“I hope Lamine can mark an era [in football], but we are not doing him any favours saying that,” Xavi said in a news conference.

“It’s true the expectations are enormous and, aged 16, he is playing at a brutal level, which is hugely positive. But let’s see what the future holds without comparing him with Messi. It’s not gone that well for all the players that have been compared with Messi in the past.”
