Barcelona has enough players in the middle of the pitch, but the management is already anticipating the summer transfer of 2024 and what else might be possible

According to a SPORT report, the Blaugrana organisation will compete for the services of 20-year-old Bayern Leverkusen wonderkid Florian Wirtz alongside teams like Real Madrid and Manchester City.

At 17 years and 15 days old, Wirtz is the youngest player in Bundesliga history for Leverkusen. He made his senior team debut for them during the 2019–20 season, and since then, he has been a regular, making more than 100 club appearances at the age of just 20.

Given his talent, Wirtz should be the centre of attention, but Barcelona isn’t the only team keeping tabs on him, according to the aforementioned publication. In actuality, Real Madrid is the team that is most intrigued, albeit Manchester City is also competing.

He is being considered as a potential Kevin De Bruyne replacement, especially by the Cityzens. In actuality, the Premier League champions have already enquired about the player’s availability and are not waiting until 2024 to make a move. Barcelona has apparently been considering a move for Wirtz in 2024 and has had their eyes on him for a while. However, due to Leverkusen’s desire for a transfer fee, it will be challenging for the Blaugrana to sign the German prodigy.

Given his talent, age, and adaptability, Wirtz is worth €85 million in the market, but Leverkusen values him at €100 million; in all honesty, Barcelona cannot afford that sum given their current financial condition. It is safe to say that it will take some time and a few player sales for the Catalan team to get back on track because they are already having trouble adhering to the Financial Fair Play rules.
