Xavi issues warning on Frenkie de Jong and Sergi Roberto futures

Xavi, the Barcelona boss, has issued a stern warning regarding the futures of Sergi Roberto and Frenkie de Jong, setting the stage for an intense clash with Valencia.

Amid swirling rumors of De Jong’s potential departure, Xavi has vehemently asserted the Dutchman’s indispensability to his plans.

“He is a fundamental footballer, very important for me, absolutely nothing changes. Frenkie has had the misfortune of having three ankle injuries and it is a shame because he was at a very high level before getting injured,” he said.

“I want him to renew and now it depends on him. He knows my position. He can help us a lot. I hope he renews,” he added.

“We have not spoken yet. We have to know where we are with fair play, hopefully with the 1/1 rule but before all that we have to finish the season well. The situation of the club will determine the planning. We are in the same situation as the last year,” he said.

Addressing concerns over Roberto’s contract status, Xavi emphasized the necessity of securing the versatile player’s services for the club’s future endeavors.

With Roberto’s current deal set to expire soon, Xavi’s insistence on a renewal underscores his belief in the player’s value to Barcelona’s cause.

Additionally, Xavi touched upon the prospect of Barcelona adhering once more to the 1:1 rule in the upcoming transfer window.

This rule, which dictates a balance between player acquisitions and departures, could significantly influence Barcelona’s transfer strategy moving forward.

As the Catalans prepare for a crucial fixture against Valencia, Xavi’s messages regarding De Jong, Roberto, and the club’s transfer policy reverberate throughout the Camp Nou.

Barcelona fans will undoubtedly await developments with bated breath as the club navigates through these pivotal decisions under Xavi’s stewardship.
