Due to Ousmane Dembele’s impending transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona will have money to reinvest in their first team roster

Xavi Hernandez, the head coach, wants to bring in a new right-back, but he is also allegedly interested in bringing in a creative midfielder. The club’s top choice for this is Bernardo Silva of Manchester City.

However, Barcelona’s financial situation makes a deal for Bernardo doubtful, despite Sport’s suggestion that the Portuguese player would be willing to push a transfer if directed to do so by the LaLiga champions.

Bernardo is obviously highly interested in moving to Barcelona, but making a deal is far from simple because Man City is averse to selling and has previously turned down significant offers this summer.

It would be intriguing to see how this story develops over the coming weeks, although it would be quite unexpected if Bernardo ended up playing for Barcelona this summer. According to reports, Silva has a contract at Man City that runs until 2025, and Barcelona will never be able to match that price tag of £75 million.

Next summer, when the 28-year-old’s asking price has decreased, the Catalan club might make another attempt. This would give City a year to find a suitable replacement for one of their most crucial players.
