Deco, Barcelona’s sports director, expressed the club’s strong desire to keep loaned players Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix.

The dynamic combination has been important in Barcelona’s recent performances after easily integrating into Xavi’s starting lineup following their summer arrival.

Deco is comfortable in their abilities and wants to ensure their continuous participation in the squad.

“We are still in November, it is early. But ofcourse we are already thinking about it,” he told RAC1.

“We see how the season is going. There is no doubt that we want to have them next season, because they are good for the squad.

“We are happy with their performance. How? We’ll see, these are discussions for later.”

Despite Joao Felix’s one goal in ten La Liga games, Deco remains optimistic about the Portuguese forward’s potential. His last league goal, scored against Real Betis in September, shows his capacity to score.

Given Barcelona’s season issues, defensive concerns about Cancelo are reasonable but the club is focused to overcome them.

However, the financial side provides an obstacle, with Atletico reportedly asking €80 million for Felix and roughly €25 million for Cancelo.

Barcelona confronts a difficult task in negotiating beneficial conditions for the duo’s extended stay at Camp Nou.
