Barcelona secures pre-contract agreement with Guido Rodriguez

Barcelona’s summer transfer plans have taken a huge step forward, with renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealing that the Catalan club has reached a pre-contract deal with Guido Rodriguez.

The Argentine midfielder, who is currently playing for Real Betis, will likely expand Xavi Hernandez’s midfield options for the following two seasons, with the option of extending his stay for another year.

Rodriguez’s coming arrival is a smart effort by Barcelona to rebuild their midfield following Oriol Romeu’s difficult season.

The Spanish midfielder, obtained from Girona last summer, has struggled to make an impact, causing the team to look for options. With Rodriguez on the verge of signing, Barcelona is poised to cut ways with Romeu after only one season.

Xavi Hernandez has given his stamp of approval for Rodriguez’s acquisition, signaling the club’s intent to strengthen in midfield. However, Barcelona’s ambitions don’t end with Rodriguez alone.

The club is reportedly eyeing top-tier options to further reinforce their midfield ranks, with the likes of Joshua Kimmich and Martin Zubimendi emerging as prime targets.

The agreement with Rodriguez is contingent upon Barcelona’s ability to navigate their salary cap constraints.

Nonetheless, with Romano’s confirmation of the pre-contract deal, Barcelona fans can eagerly anticipate the Argentine’s arrival at the Camp Nou come summer.

As the transfer window approaches, Barcelona’s activity in the market is expected to intensify, with Rodriguez’s signing poised to be the first of several moves aimed at reshaping the squad under Xavi’s stewardship.
