Barcelona and Dembele ready to negotiate contract again

In a fresh update on the Ousmane Dembele contract saga, the winger is ready to sit down and negotiate a new deal with the club

Dembele’s contract with Barça expires in three months, and after talks broke through at the start of the year, it was generally assumed that the 24-year-old would leave Camp Nou in a Bosman trade.

However, things have changed since then, with the French international making a strong impression on the field. During his time at Barcelona, the winger has produced some of his greatest football, with Xavi Hernandez getting the most out of him.

It has sparked speculation that Dembele will stay with the Catalan giants beyond the current season. According to reports, Barcelona approached his representation to reopen discussions on a new contract, but those assertions were swiftly debunked.

Dembele is said to want to stay at the club, but his agent, Moussa Sissoko, has been a stumbling block in discussions, with the Blaugrana becoming unhappy with his methods. The La Liga giants want the player’s team to make the first step in resuming negotiations.
The talks are set to restart shortly, but it does not change the fact that the French international will have to drop his pay expectations if both parties are to reach an agreement on an extension.

Dembele and Barcelona still have time to work things out. It would also be fascinating to see if the former Borussia Dortmund star is prepared to lower his pay expectations in order to extend his contract.
