ESPN reports that Marc-Andre ter Stegen will be out until the new year.
Barcelona will face a major injury conern as their first-choice goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen will undergo surgery to rectify an issue in his lower back.
The German has missed all three Barca games since club football returned after the international break with the injury.
Ter Stegen was also out of the Germany squad for November’s fixtures against Turkey and Austria.
The Catalan giants have confirmed that the 31-year-old will have surgery, but they remained tight-lipped on the possible timeframe of his absence.
ESPN reports that the goalkeeper will be out until the new year. It’s good news is he will be ready for the Champions League knockouts.

Ter Stegen said on an Instagram post: “The break obviously annoys me. It is the right and safe decision in order to come back in the best conditions for my Club [Barcelona] and the National Team [Germany].”
