Eric Garcia To Potentially Move To Barcelona Next Season

Man City defender Eric Garcia wants to come to his boyhood club Barcelona.

Manchester City, however, want the defender to stay on with the club.

Manager Guardiola said last week: “He wants to leave but maybe we can seduce him to extend his contract with us.”

However, Eric Garcia has confirmed that he has no interest in staying on at the club and signing a fresh contract with the Cityzens.

He said: “It is true, I have told the club I do not intend to extend my contract beyond 2021.

“But I will return to Manchester when I am finished on international duty with Spain.

“I am focused on next season with City.”

The 19 year old defender has started twice for Man City in spite of him wanting to leave Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola said: “He announced to us that he doesn’t want to extend his contract with Manchester City.

“He has one more year and after that, yeah.

“We want it but he doesn’t want to extend it, so I imagine he wants to play in another place.”

His plan was to move to Barcelona in the summer transfer window itself but Barcelona did not want to pay his asking price of £18million. Garcia is set to leave next season, however – and most likely to Barcelona.
