Girona set to make a move for Barcelona defender Eric Garcia

After taking Pablo Torre on loan from FC Barcelona this summer, Girona has their sights set on Eric Garcia, another member of Xavi Hernandez’s team

Journalist Nil Sola asserts that Girona boss Michel loves the profile of the Barcelona defender and considers him a center-back as well as a pivot midfielder alternative.

Garcia is no longer a prominent member of the Barcelona lineup under Xavi Hernandez, and he is still a long way from earning a place in the starting lineup. Currently, Ronald Araujo, Jules Kounde, and Andreas Christensen are ahead of the former Manchester City star in the club’s hierarchy.

The 22-year-old, whose market value is €10 million, has only appeared in two games this season for a total of 11 minutes. Garcia’s prospects of playing time would be impacted by Araujo’s return to center-back alongside Kounde or Christensen as Barça moves closer to signing Joao Cancelo.

Additionally, Inigo Martinez, who will be fully fit once he recovers from injury, may be favoured over the 22-year-old because the veteran gives Xavi a left-footed alternative in defence. Garcia’s chances of playing frequently for Barcelona as a result seem quite dim right now. As Girona looks to bolster the team in the final week of the window, they are also rumoured to be interested in the La Masia graduate.

According to reports, manager Michel thinks the player would be a good choice for centre back and No. 6 due to his ball-playing skills and capacity for recovering lost control. According to the article, Eric would be willing to consider the concept. But it’s unclear at this point in the window whether there will be any developments on this front.
