Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has urged his teammates to express their feelings more openly in the wake of Barcelona’s painful loss to archrivals Real Madrid in the most recent Clasico match. Ancelotti’s team, who was also unbeaten in the league, was playing Barcelona, who was only one point behind Real in the La Liga rankings.

With fierce will, the Catalan giants stormed into the match, and in the sixth minute, Gundogan scored a beautiful opening goal. The jubilant home crowd sensed victory, but their dreams were dashed by an unfortunate turn of destiny. Deep into injury time, Jude Bellingham scored an amazing goal and finished calmly to give the Madridistas the three points.

Gundogan stated: “I come from the dressing room and obviously people are disappointed after such a big game, such an important game and such an unthinkable result, I would like to see more anger, more disappointment,” he told Optus Sport.

He explained: “This is part of the problem, they have to express more emotions when you lose and when you know you can play better, you have to do better in certain situations and we don’t react

After 11 La Liga matches, Barcelona now finds themselves four points behind Real Madrid in the standings. Both teams experienced a single defeat, but Barcelona has also been held to three draws, whereas their madrid have only managed one draw.

Gundogan’s request for teammates to express their emotions more openly implies that the team has been affected by the Clasico loss. It will be interesting to watch how Barcelona bounces back from this loss and attempts to rejoin the intensely contested La Liga race.
