Inter Milan shirt sponsors Pirelli has suggested that they are ready to help the club sign Barcelona legend Lionel Messi.
The Argentine has had a torrid time this season and despite being a club legend and football icon there have been talks that due to the unrest between Messi and the Barcelona board, the player may leave the club.
Inter Milan are seen as one of the candidates to try and sign Messi and Pirelli chief Tronchetti has told Inter that they are ready to help.
“Honestly, at a time like this, we’re unable to invest in sports more than we are, between Formula 1, the America’s Cup and Inter,” Tronchetti told Gr Parlamento.
“We have to ask Steven Zhang to make an effort himself. We can help, but we can’t do anything significant.”
Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu however remained confident that Lionel Messi would end his career in Catalonia.
“I am not going to give details but Messi has said many times that he will end his football life in Barcelona,” Bartomeu said.
“We are focused on [the] competition and there are negotiations with many players. Messi wants to continue and wants to end [his career] here. He has many years left and we are going to enjoy him for much longer.”
