Joan Cancelo joins Barcelona on a season-long loan.
Barcelona coach Xavi has been to sign a new right-back this summer and they have finally landed on Joao Cancelo.
He will become Barcelona’s fourth signing of the summer after the arrival of Ilkay Gündogan, Iñigo Martínez and Oriol Romeu in this transfer window.
The Portuguese defender made a shock move from Man City to Bayern Munich on a six-month loan deal this January but the Bavarians opted out of making the deal permanent.
Cancelo has established himself as one of the best right-backs who can play on either flank or in an advanced role.
Signing a right-back in the summer was at the top of Barcelona’s wishlist and they have finally signed a world-class defender.
The Portuguese international will expect to rediscover his form under manager XI as he aims to make a deep run in Europe this season with Barcelona.

“Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement for the loan of player Joao Felix until June 30, 2024. There is no option to buy,” said Barcelona in a statement.
