Pedri to miss remainder of La Liga season & summer's European Championship

Barcelona boss Xavi spoke to reporters regarding Pedri after the clash with Athletic.

Barcelona suffered a big blow as Pedri has been ruled out for the entire season. He is sidelined for the entire La Liga season and summer’s European Championship also.

Pedri was forced off the field in the final stages of the first half against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday. The Spain international has suffered a hamstring problem.

According to Bar Canaletes, the Catalan giants are not expecting to have the 21-year-old available for the rest of the season. He is also set to miss out Euro 2024 season.

The report adds that the Barca are attempting to convince Pedri to undergo an operation. He has dealt with a number of hamstring issues during his time at Barcelona.

The Spaniard has been restricted to just 24 appearances this season. He made the move to Barcelona from Las Palmas in the summer of 2020. He has represented the club on 133 occasions, scoring 18 goals and providing 12 assists in the process.

Barcelona boss Xavi spoke to reporters after the clash with Athletic: “He had trained very well this week, he was at a very high level and it is a shame. He was very well physically and he has done everything to recover, to be well.

“We have taken care of everything, all the details, and this has happened again, but these are football situations and he will come back stronger.”
