Barcelona defender Gerard Pique says there’s plenty of positives to draw from their dramatic Supercopa de Espana semifinal defeat to Real Madrid.
Real Madrid beat Barcelona 3-2 in a dramatic Supercopa de Espana semi-final in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday night. It was a thrilling Clasico from start to finish, but Madrid prevailed after extra time to book their spot in Sunday’s final against either Athletic Club or Atletico Madrid.
“I think we’ve competed very well,” Gerard Pique said to Movistar post-match in comments carried by Marca. “We haven’t won and it’s not the result we expected. Losing to Madrid hurts but we’re closer to winning. We need to win, we need that definitive step. But we’ve played well and taken risks. We went for the game and, while they won, by playing like this we’re going to win.”
