AS Roma is becoming more interested in signing Depay during the upcoming January transfer window.

Memphis Depay is gradually settling in to the ongoing FIFA World Cup after missing the majority of the season due to injuries.

It appears that Roma’s coach, Jose Mourinho, is a major fan of the Barcelona forward and is eager to sign him the following month. Depay’s prospective transfer to Roma may be a part of Mourinho’s ambitions to strengthen the attacking unit, especially given the attacking unit’s less-than-impressive start to the season.

With only 18 goals scored in 15 league games, Roma is the least offensive of the top eight Serie A teams. Therefore, Depay’s acquisition could significantly increase their efficacy in front of goal.

The likelihood of relocating to Roma, though, is far from clear. Given that Depay’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, Roma, for one, is not eager to spend a significant amount of money on the player in January.

But doing so will be the same as Barça issuing the striker who came on a free transfer in the summer of 2021 a letter of freedom. Therefore, it will be intriguing to observe what the Dutchman’s future holds as he seeks to advance in his career.
