Ronald Koeman understands clinching the La Liga title will be difficult.
Barcelona only managed a 1-0 narrow victory over Huesca after drawing 1-1 with Eibar.
Clearly, the Spanish giants have fallen a long way from their dominant self and will need some luck to regain their place at the top.
“This month is very important for our aspirations as we have many away games, but if we win them, I think we can fight for the league,” Koeman told a post match interview with Marca.
“We have seen here (at Huesca) that it’s not easy to win away from home. If our rivals catch a bad result the gap can be shortened, but it depends on our victories also.”
Barcelona look like they will manage a Champions League spot but catching up to league leaders, Atletico Madrid is a daunting task. Real Madrid are also ahead by eight points in second place with Real Sociedad following closely behind.
There are still 22 games left to be played which makes it not an impossible task. Over the course of a very irregular season, anything can happen. One thing is for sure, Barca will need to improve their performances by a significant margin.
If they keep playing like they have been in recent times, it will be difficult to win anything at all.
