As Lionel Messi reaches his record 700 goal-mark, Setien has paid tribute to the striker.
Messi has scored 699 career goals so far and is in a bid to look for his 700th goal.
Setien has promised all his support to the player.
“It would be very good if he did it at a ground like that and against a rival like Sevilla,” Setien told a news conference on Thursday.
“These are numbers that are only available to the chosen ones. Hopefully, he will get that one in Seville and then many more.”
“There is no question that a player who has been playing for 14 years has a deep understanding of his body,” Setien said of Messi.
“For many years they’ve known the workloads they need. I have confidence in Leo and three or four players who have that knowledge.
“They will decide and let me know to rotate them, although I will decide when they should play.”
Messi has been a strong influence in the Barcelona side since his return and has scored two and assisted two more in their six goals. He is on a quest to find his 700th goal and Barcelona will have a legend in their ranks that will perhaps never be paralleled in football.
