The promises made to Barcelona by the presidential candidates sometimes borders on ridiculous.
From bringing in all the prodigious talents out there to completely changing the club’s policies, like politicians, the candidates have made endless claims.
Victor Font is up against the favourite, Joan Laporta. The latter suggested that he would like to see Erling Haaland at Camp Nou someday and Font criticised those comments.
Font said, in quotes that have been carried by Diario Sport, “Generating expectations about some of the stars who have dazzled us this week and the Champions League stars is irresponsible because it is not possible to sign them.
“A few weeks ago the same candidate didn’t want to sign Eric Garcia in the January transfer window because there’s no money at the club.”
However, Font did admit that he admires Haaland as a footballer “and since the departure of Luis Suarez the sports structure is clear that the forward needs to be strengthened.”
Ronald Koeman has been desperately asking for a new striker since taking over. Letting Suarez leave for free to Atletico Madrid has turned it into a complete disaster. Now, he is the league’s leading goalscorer and has helped Atletico to the top of the league.
