Barcelona manager Xavi provides an update on January transfer plans.

The Blaugrana are currently four points behind league-leaders Real Madrid who are jointly sitting at the top alongside Girona.

Barcelona has been very inconsistent this season and have lost crucial players like Gavi and Pedri to long-term injuries.

The Catalan giants will definitely dip into the transfer market but financial issues could be a massive stumbling block once again this January.

The club has already brought Vitor Roque in January and wants to sign the Portuguese duo João Cancelo and João Félix on a permanent deal.

Recent reports have linked Barcelona with superstars Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland who are two of Europe’s two most coveted forwards.

Manager Xavi recently admitted that the club would dip into the transfer market but doesn’t have the funds to afford either Mbappe or Haaland.

He said: “Haaland or Mbappé? We can’t think of Haaland or Mbappé to join Barça now. We can’t afford these players, unfortunately. I’m happy with the players I have.

“We need to reach our best level as at this club we need to be always at the top level”.
