Xavi unconvinced with Barcelona's performance last night

Barcelona coach Xavi frustrated after Rayo Vallecano draw.

A goal from Unai Lopez in the first half put the hosts ahead before Florian Lejeune’s second-half own goal canceled out.

The 1-1 stalemate has extended Barca’s winless run against Rayo to five games this season.

Table leaders Girona and arch-rivals Real Madrid will now have the chance to extend their lead over the weekend.

The Catalan giants are now four points behind Girona and have won just two of their last five matches in all competitions.

Barcelona haven’t been at their best in the last few weeks and will now face Porto for their next Champions League knockout.

Xavi believes the squad needs to change their mentality if they want to achieve any triumph this campaign.

“I think it was a game of two halves,” Barça coach Xavi said in his post-game news conference. “In the first, we dominated, but didn’t really go for the game, we were not aggressive.

“We lacked that mentality to go for it. If we want to win trophies this season, we have to change our mentality.

“The second half was good but not enough. We woke up too late. We did what we wanted: dominated and created chances. We could have scored more.”
