As part of their strategy to lower the wage load and produce fresh income to assist recruit new players before the new season, Barcelona is actively attempting to offload a number of undesired players in the market

Clement Lenglet is one of the minor players who is most likely to be fired. Despite Gerard Pique’s retirement at the end of the previous year, Xavi has no intentions for the Frenchman, who is now on loan at Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the current campaign.

Barcelona is therefore looking for buyers for the former Sevilla starlet. Lenglet’s buyer need not be found far and wide, fortunately for the Catalans, as Tottenham are prepared to sign the player to a permanent contract.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham notified Barcelona of their wish to sign Lenglet on a long-term basis before the start of the new season. The Premier League team is pleased with Lenglet’s debut season in England’s performances. Although he wasn’t a regular starter for the London club, his swift league adjustment has impressed spectators.

If the deal goes through, Spurs might be required to pay Barça a sum that is equivalent to the player’s current market worth, which is somewhere between €15 and €20 million. Lenglet’s contract with the club expires in 2026, thus the Blaugrana must persuade him to quit. One wouldn’t anticipate the Frenchman to make a big deal given how well he has adapted to life at Tottenham.

In the meantime, Barcelona will try to strengthen their defence by bringing in Inigo Martinez. To increase Xavi’s alternatives at centre back, the club is set to sign the veteran from Athletic Club to a loan agreement in the upcoming summer.
