Joan Laporta remains optimistic about Lionel Messi deal.
Lionel Messi is currently a free agent after his contract with Barcelona expired on June 30.
Club president Joan Laporta has urged the fans to remain patient with Lionel Messi deal as it might take more time than anticipated.
According to reports, the six-time Ballon d’Or winner has agreed to a five-year deal with the Catalan giants and accepted a 50% wage cut on his yearly earnings.
Lionel Messi will stay at Barcelona, it’s never been in doubt and gonna be announced soon. 🔵🔴 #FCB
PSG never had any real chance this summer. NO talks. Only Barça for Leo. ❌
New contract will be until June 2026 instead of 2023 to help the club – as @ferrancorreas reported.

“The professionals are doing their job well,” Laporta said. “We are very satisfied with how everything is progressing.
“But you know that it is a special market that requires patience, skill and sometimes some juggling.
“But I think, as the summer progresses, we will be able to give good news.”
