Pedri aims for victory and tribute to Gavi against Rayo Vallecano
Barcelona’s deadly midfielder Pedri, who turns 21 today, is preparing for an important match against Rayo Vallecano.
First and foremost, he wants to celebrate his birthday by winning a game. The desire to dedicate the victory to his close friend and comrade, Gavi, is the deeper motivator behind Pedri’s effort.
“I send him a lot of encouragement. I know that these are very difficult times for him.
I have had several injuries and I know that when you are injured you value being healthy a lot. We will all help him,” he said about Gavi a few days back.
Unfortunately, Gavi’s season was cut short due to a terrible ACL injury, and Pedri wants to lift spirits by defeating Rayo Vallecano.
Barcelona is looking to snap a four-game losing streak against its opponents, which adds an added dimension of significance to the game.
Pedri is expected to make his second consecutive start this season after returning from an important injury that kept him out for two and a half months.
Despite the return of Frenkie de Jong, Pedri’s presence in the midfield alongside Ilkay Gundogan shows his importance to the team.
Pedri’s determination is a touching tribute to Gavi, demonstrating the brotherhood that links Barcelona’s players on and off the field.
As the young midfielder takes the pitch, he carries not just the weight of the team’s expectations, but also the collective spirit of victory for his injured teammate.
