Barcelona are willing to keep Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo at Camp Nou next season.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that his club are still planning to sign Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo on a permanent basis. Both players are in their future plans ahead of the summer transfer window.
Currently, the duo is on loan at Camp Nou from Atletico Madrid and Manchester City. Felix and Cancelo are pretty regular under Xavi and they are in good touch for Barcelona this season.
Barcelona’s ongoing financial situation may disturb their plans to sign both players permanently but they will still push for it. Laporta has already claimed that long-term deals for the duo will be explored.
Laporta spoke to Barca one and discussed about the summer window, “We are willing to keep both of them, whether with the formula transfer setting a purchase price or continue with the same conditions that we have now with the respective clubs.”
“Their cases are quite similar, but Cancelo is much further along in the operation in terms of price, with Joao Felix has not yet decided on the price and we are waiting.
“We want Joao to continue at Barca, he has exceptional class and we also want Cancelo to continue, he has become a player who is a regular starter.”
Felix has scored nine goals and provided five assists in 34 appearances for Barcelona this season. The 24-year-old will see his contract expire in the next five years. Atletico are keen to sell him this summer.
Cancelo has made 32 appearances for Barcelona this season, scoring four goals and providing four assists in the process. His contract with city expires in June 2027 and he is not expected back at the Etihad Stadium next season.
