Barca president Laporta has played down talk of the return of Messi.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that no talks have taken place over loan return for Lionel Messi in winter. There was a news making headline that Messi could think about a loan return.

The Argentine was unable to guide Inter Miami into the MLS playoffs. Messi will have no match till February as Inter Miami failed to qualify for the playoffs this season.

Messi scored 11 goals and provided five assists from his first 13 games. He scored in seven successive Leagues Cup matches as Inter Miami won the silverware.

Copa America is the major tournament for Messi and he started preparing for this. He has been tipped to experience a Camp Nou homecoming on loan for the second half of the 2023-24 season in order to maintain peak physical fitness.

Barca president Laporta has also played down talk of the return of Messi. He said, “Messi on loan? We offered Messi to return at the beginning of the season… no talks took place now. Leo told us his decision and so we respected him,” Fabrizio Romano quotes Laporta as saying.
