Barcelona have announced a new sponsorship deal with music streaming giants Spotify

The Blaugrana have finalised a new four-year sponsorship arrangement with Spotify, ending weeks of suspense.

From 2022/23, the music streaming service will feature the prominent name on Barcelona’s men’s and women’s jerseys. Not only that, but Barcelona has sold the name rights to Camp Nou, something the club has never done before. Since the stadium’s completion in 1957, Camp Nou has carried its iconic moniker, but Spotify will soon be incorporated in the name.

Starting next season, the stadium will be called Spotify Camp Nou as part of a ‘long-term deal’ that will cover the new version of the stadium as part of the Espai Barca project.

The agreement comes as Barcelona seeks to reduce their massive debt, which is estimated to be in the region of €1billion.

Speaking about the deal, Barcelona president Joan Laporta said: “We are very proud to be able to announce a pioneering alliance like this with a worldwide reference entity like Spotify.

This sponsorship agreement will also assist Barcelona in increasing their La Liga salary cap for next season, since the club is now about €200 million over their existing quota.
