Ousmane Dembele has started to regularly display his genuine talent at FC Barcelona during the past 18 months

The 26-year-old has thrived at the Catalan club because to the belief manager Xavi Hernandez has in him. When Dembele’s contract with Barcelona was about to expire last year, Xavi was a major factor in getting him to sign a new one. The French international only agreed to a two-year contract, but hoped to later negotiate a longer one.

Additionally, the former Borussia Dortmund winger’s deal includes a €50 million release clause that will go into effect this summer in addition to an expiration date of next year. And Barcelona has started to worry about it. In the middle of this, SPORT is reporting that Barcelona wants to talk about and extend Dembele’s contract before the 2023–24 season begins.

Barcelona are concerned that the Frenchman might sign with another team after January, once he enters the final six months of his contract in 2024, in addition to the threat of one club exercising the release clause. As a result, the La Liga champions are anxious to settle the contract dispute before the start of the current campaign in order to prevent a situation similar to last year where the negotiations lingered on.

Dembele and his agent, Moussa Sissoko, have informed the team that they do not want to go and that his contract will be renewed, which benefits Barça. Barcelona has presented Dembele with a new four-year contract offer through 2027, as the player himself has acknowledged. And the champion of the 2018 FIFA World Cup plans to sign the new contract.

However, even though the Blaugrana want to complete the agreement before the new season begins, Dembele’s agent is taking his time and is not in a rush. Despite this, there is optimism that Dembele will extend his contract and remain with the team for a long time; a new deal is only a matter of when, not if.
