Barcelona’s Sporting director Deco confirms intention to secure permanent signing of Joao Cancelo
Deco, the sporting director of Barcelona, has confirmed the club’s intention to secure the permanent signing of Manchester City’s versatile full-back, Joao Cancelo.
The Portuguese international, currently on loan at the Spanish club, has impressed Barcelona with his performances this season.
After a successful stint at Manchester City under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola, Cancelo found himself sidelined last season, leading to a temporary move to Bayern Munich.
However, his fortunes changed upon joining Barcelona on loan, where he has rejuvenated his career, featuring in 25 matches and contributing to six goals.
Barcelona, impressed by Cancelo’s adaptability and impact on the pitch, are eager to make his stay permanent. Deco expressed the club’s determination to negotiate with Manchester City for Cancelo’s services beyond the current season.
While acknowledging that various factors will influence the potential transfer, Deco assured fans that Barcelona will spare no effort in their pursuit of Cancelo. The club sees him as a crucial component of their rebuilding process and believes he perfectly aligns with their style of play.
In addition to Cancelo, Barcelona are also eyeing a permanent deal for Joao Felix, indicating their ambitious plans for the upcoming transfer window. Deco’s statement underscores Barcelona’s commitment to strengthening their squad and returning to the summit of European football.
As negotiations unfold between the two clubs, Barcelona supporters eagerly await the outcome, hopeful that Cancelo will continue to don the famous Blaugrana colors beyond his loan spell.
