Ansu Fati has signed an extension with FC Barcelona.
A statement from Spanish champions read: “FC Barcelona and Ansu Fati have reached an agreement to improve the player’s contract through to 30 June 2022, extendable by two further seasons, and his buyout clause has been raised from 100 to 170 million euros.”
The 17-year-old is a magnanimous prospect for the club. He is a smart young player who is expected to take over the mantle carried by Lionel Messi.
Like Messi, Fati has come through the ranks at La Masia. He is a player who was outperforming team-mates at the lower levels very early and got his Barcelona debut at 16.
Since making his debut under Ernesto Valverde, the player has been a cut above the rest.
He has played under 3 different managers now and all of them have highly praised the young lad.
He started as a centre forward but has now drifted outside as a winger. Barcelona very much want to hold on to their star asset for the future but the player has been wanted and chased by other clubs as well including Manchester United.
So it is important for the Catalans that they sign the player for another extension.
