Former La Masia academy product Dani Olmo was close to a move to Barcelona.

The attacker had moved to Dinamo Zagreb where he had a brilliant season this time around and was tipped with a move to join Barcelona in the January transfer market.

However, the Catalonian club played hide and seek with the player and after making him wait for so long, they decided against signing him.

“I had the sense that they were not seriously interested in me,” he told Mundo Deportivo.

“In November, they talked to my agent like they wanted to get it done quickly, but then all of a sudden it was moved.

“Then, in January, just as I was going to Leipzig, they asked me to wait again. But I had already made a decision.

“I wanted to go to a team that offered me a perspective – Leipzig was able to do that, other teams weren’t.

“I have no regrets. I think this was the best option for me and still is.”

He has now joined RB Leipzig, the Bundesliga outfit where he has already scored 1 goal in 8 appearances!
