Barcelona have one of the best goalkeepers in the world in Marc Andre-Ter Stegen.
However, the contract situation with their goalkeeper is not a favorable one. His contract is set to expire shortly and the club has so far been unable to negotiate it beyond 2022.
There has bene plenty of rumors flying around that Ter-Stegen is not paid enough, Lionel Messi has a problem with him and wants him sold. It led to him being linked with clubs like Chelsea for a potential transfer.
However, Ter-Stegen has now shed some light on the situation himself. The goalkeeper has admitted that a new contract has not yet been agreed on but the process is underway. Moreover, he stressed on the fact that he is happy at the club and is not looking to leave Barcelona.
“We have already had the first conversations,” Ter Stegen said during an Instagram Live with former club Borussia Monchengladbach.
“But as I said, we have parked it. There are much more important things. I am very happy here and the sporting situation is good, the team is doing well. What more can I ask for?”
This will almost certainly be good news for the club who could do with a break from the torrid time they have been having.
