Xavi Hernandez Rejects Barcelona Manager Post

According to the latest reports, Xavi Hernandez has turned down the managerial position at Barcelona.

Several Spanish news outlets like Muno Deportivo and Marca claim that the former Barca midfielder has rejected the offer to succeed Ernesto Valverde.

There is concern within the Camp Nou ranks that Valverde is not fit to lead this Barcelona side anymore. After being eliminated from the Supercopa de Espana, the Barca higher authority believe this form could carry over to their La Liga and European objectives this season.

The Bavarians have already undergone embaressing defeats against AS Roma and Liverpool in the Champions League these past two seasons. It would be ideal to not repeat the same mistakes but there seems to be little indication of change from the head coach.

Valverde continues to be tactically outdone by rival coaches despite the clubs position at the top of the La Liga and performances in the Champions League this season. Tying down an European trophy has become a necessaity at this point after missing out on it the past 5 seasons.

Xavi, who is currently the head coach of Al-Sadd has refused to take over the club in this state. However, the 39-year-old could return to Camp Nou in the summer from the next season. Reports claim Holland head coach, Ronal Koeman has also been approached for the position.
