Joao Felix has scored the winner against his parent club.
The Catalan giants secured an emphatic 1-0 win over arch-rivals Atletico Madrid last night and Joao Felix scored the match-winning goal against his parent club.
The Portuguese winger joined Barcelona on a season-long loan on the deadline day of the summer window.
Since his arrival at Camp Nou, Felix adapted seamlessly to manager Xavi’s setup and has now scored five goals and provided three assists in 17 appearances across competitions.
Xavi hailed the forward for his outstanding contribution last night and also reserved praise for Inaki Pena who started in between the sticks in the last three games.
First-choice goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has been ruled out with a back injury and Pena had to step in the last few matches.
“We could have put the game to bed much earlier, but I’m still very happy and satisfied. We are Barça, so what need to do is play like that all the time.
“João Félix worked very hard, he won back a lot of balls and was very well positioned. He looks happy and I’m very pleased with him … And Inaki Pena is such an example. He trains hard and that’s why he performs the way he does. He gets ten out of ten for some extraordinary saves.”
