FC Barcelona has officially announced that a deal has been completed to sell midfielder Franck Kessie to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli

In a statement, it was said that “FC Barcelona and Al-Ahli SC have reached an agreement for the transfer of Franck Kessie for 12.5 million euros.”

“FC Barcelona publicly thanks Franck Kessie for his commitment and dedication and wishes him luck and success in the future,” the statement reads. Kessie had only recently joined Barcelona, moving there from AC Milan as a free agent last summer.

In his first season at Barça, the midfielder made 43 appearances and contributed to three goals across all competitions. The Ivorian’s game-winning goal in the El Clasico in La Liga in March, which moved the squad one step closer to the championship, will be remembered as his most significant contribution.

Kessie would not have played a significant role in the upcoming season due to the signing of Ilkay Gundogan and Oriol Romeu, therefore the club needed to make money from player sales. As a result, the former AC Milan player was instructed to find himself a new club. As a result, he has already agreed to a €12.5 million contract with Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia.

Prior to departing for Saudi Arabia, the midfielder, who was in Barcelona earlier today, said goodbye to his colleagues at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. Kessie’s departure and Ousmane Dembele’s impending departure should enable Barcelona to secure the registration of new signings and contract extensions.
