OFFICIAL: Franck Kessie leaves Barcelona for Al-Ahli

Franck Kessie joins Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli on a permanent deal.

The Ivory Coast midfielder joined the Catalan giants on a free transfer last summer from AC Milan.

In his only season with Barcelona, Kessie has managed 3 goals in 43 appearances but mostly as a substitute as he struggled to secure a place in Xavi’s starting lineup.

In the new campaign, Kessie would have also struggled to get minutes after the arrival of Ilkay Gundogan and Oriol Romeu this summer.

Barcelona needed to make player sales and would receive £10.8million for the 26-year-old.

“FC Barcelona and Al-Ahli SC have agreed on a 12.5 million euro transfer for the player Franck Kessie.

“FC Barcelona want to take this opportunity to publicly thank Franck for his commitment and dedication, and to wish him all the best and every success in the future.”

With Kessie’s departure and Dembele’s imminent departure, Barcelona would now be able to register new signings and facilitate contract extensions.
