Barcelona fans will be disappointed to learn that the club has officially ruled out the arrival of Brazilian prospect Victor Roque during the upcoming January transfer window. Despite reaching an agreement with Athletico Paranaense in the summer, Barcelona’s plans to strengthen their attacking unit with Roque have been hindered by financial constraints.

Barcelona’s sporting director expressed concerns about the player’s arrival, citing the delay on the club’s ongoing financial difficulties. Despite releasing a number of players during the summer transfer window, the Catalan giants have failed to reach a financial surplus, and their wage bill remains hefty.

According to reports, Barcelona would have to pay or release a significant €40 million to La Liga in order to acquire Victor Roque in January. The difficulty lies in creating such a large money in such a short period of time, which may necessitate the departure of more prominent participants.

While some Barcelona stars, such Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, Gavi, and Alejandro Balde, have been linked to exits, it is unlikely that coach Xavi Hernandez would be prepared to further downsize the team, given the importance of these players in his system.

As Barcelona navigates these financial challenges, fans wonder about the club’s capacity to improve its team in the coming transfer window and address the pressing need for attacking reinforcements.
