Barcelona are planning to offer the number 10 shirt of legend Messi to Mason Greenwood as part of a £40m move during next summer’s transfer window.
Manchester United already confirmed that Greenwood will not play for the Red Devils any more. The young gun moved to Spain to resume his football career. He showed his class with Getafe in La Liga during the loan stint. He has scored five goals and provided four assists in 15 appearances in all competitions.
Greenwood’s contract will end in the summer of 2025 at Old Trafford. There are some reports that United could change their stance and bring him back into the first-team set-up.
Getafe are also willing to pay £40m to sign on a permanent basis next summer. A report adds that Barcelona had moved to the head of the queue for his signature.
As per reports of The Sun, Barcelona are ready to offer the 22-year-old the chance to wear Lionel Messi’s iconic number 10 shirt. This number is famous for Lionel Messi who sported the famous jersey between 2008 and 2021. This number was then handed to Ansu Fati, who is currently on loan at Brighton.
Real Madrid are also targeting the move for United star but Barcelona are hopeful of completing the deal. Greenwood has scored 35 goals and registered 12 assists in his 29 appearances for Man United in all competitions.
