Barcelona to push for Roberto De Zerbi as replacement of Xavi as new manager

De Zerbi’s contract with the Seagulls is understood to include a release clause of €10m.

Barcelona are now looking at all options for the new manager ahead of the new season. Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi is on the radar of Barcelona as the ideal replacement for Xavi who has already decided to leave the club this summer.

Barcelona are struggling this season and they are most likely to finish the season trophyless. They are in the knockout round of the Champions League where they can push for thee trophy. La Liga title is going far from their hands.

Current manager, Xavi announced in a January press conference that he would resign from his position at the end of the season. Few reports were saying that Barca could even sack him in the middle of the season but Laporta denied it.

The former Barcelona midfielder will continue in his role for the next few months. As per Sport, Laporta has now requested more information on De Zerbi. He has been terrific in his stint with the Premier League club. He helped the club to claim European qualification last season.

The 44-year-old transformed Brighton and his club is doing great. He could be a great addition to Barcelona. Brighton qualified for the last 16 of the Europa League as group winners over Marseille, Ajax and AEK Athens a few months ago. His contract with the English club will expire in 2026.
