Luis Suarez has been tested positive for CoVID-19!

The Atletico Madrid striker was on national duty with Uruguay when he was tested positive.

“Tests have been carried out on all the members of the national team, with the result that the players Luis Suarez (and) Rodrigo Munoz and the official, Matias Faral, have tested positive for Covid-19,” the Uruguayan football federation said in a statement.

“The three members mentioned are in good health and the corresponding measures have already been implemented,” it added.

Apart from Suarez, Uruguay goalkeeper Rodrigo Munoz and official Matias Faral have also been found COVID-19 positive.

His team were playing in the qualifiers for Copa America but Suarez will have to now sit out. In what will be an even bigger blow for the player, he will be now missing from the much anticipated return to Nou Camp.

The veteran forward spent the better part of his career at Barcelona and won numerous trophies. He was sold this summer to balance books while being blamed for the club’s sad state at the same time.

He would enjoyed a return to the club he loved so much and it would have made an exciting watch for the fans to see Suarez play and score against Barcelona.

Lionel Messi had suspicions of an ankle injury, with which he played in the 1-1 draw with Paraguay on Thursday.

However, Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni was happy that Messi didn’t come down with any additional injuries after the match. The Barcelona striker will be fit to play in the World Cup qualifiers with Peru on Tuesday.

“On a performance level, Leo played a good game,” he told a news conference.

“We were unlucky that they didn’t validate the goal because it had been a great play.”

Scaloni added: “I saw him well and he has no problem, that’s the important thing.”

“I want to emphasise the retirement of Javier Mascherano and his new life that begins from now on. I send him a big hug,” Scaloni said.

“He was an emblem of Argentine football and I wish him to do his best and that whatever he decides to do now, he does it with the same passion with which he used to play.”

“We pay attention to the strength of the rivals and logically it is a challenge to try to counteract the strengths of the teams that we face,” he said.

“Argentina not only has Messi, but they have many good players in all their lines and we will have to play a great game to neutralise them.”

Luis Suarez claims that he and Lionel Messi talk about life off the pitch as well.

Ever since Suarez moved to Atlético Madrid, he insists that he and Lionel Messi have maintained close personal contact.

“The truth is that we speak a lot, but honestly we talk about our life,” Suarez told Marca when asked about Messi.

“It was recently the birthday of one of my children, also his. We talked about life, the virus, everything, but very little about football, about the goals we miss or about tactical systems. We worry more about how the family is than about what happens in football.”

Pressed once again on his Barcelona exit, Suarez added: “I was sad and hurt by the way I left – I already said it. But when they close a door, five more open to you where they value my work, professionalism and trajectory. I feel proud.

“Where they did not want me, there was another that wanted me. I found happiness and I’m enjoying this moment now.”

“No, there was a tactical planning or, whatever you want to call it, that sought to make changes. I had to accept it because they didn’t need me,” Suarez said.

“Each person can draw conclusions. I have to live my present at Atleti.”

Barcelona Slammed For Kicking Luis Suarez Out

Barcelona Slammed For Kicking Luis Suarez Out

Barcelona continue to face backlash for letting Atletico Madrid sign Luis Suarez last summer.

Without a clear number nine, Barca’s attacking pedigree has declined.

Ronald Koeman has shown improvements from the wrecking ship we all saw last season but it’s still not enough. On the back of his suggestions, Suarez was made available for sale and Barca’s rivals picked him up for a bargain.

Even at 33, the forward is filling in with goals for his new side. He has collected 5 in 6 La Liga outings so far.

Real Madrid great, Tony Cassano told Christian Vieri on Instagram, “They said Suarez was old when he left Barcelona. Another moment of madness.

“He scored 350 goals in six years. I don’t understand why they kicked him out [the club]. Then they put [Antoine] Greizmann as a centre forward.”

Griezmann has been struggling at Camp Nou since coming in for £120m in 2018. He has yet to find his best position on the pitch and the quality gap shows. Since Lionel Messi fills up the dominant position as a free number ten, Griezmann often finds it difficult to operate as a traditional forward or winger.

Meanwhile, there has been stiff competition through rising youngsters, Pedri and Ansu Fati. Letting Suarez go that easily could end up costing Barcelona.

Luis Figo Compares Ousmane Dembele To Himself

Luis Figo has proclaimed that he sees himself in Barcelona ace Ousmane Dembele.

He has hailed Dembele for being the players who reminds him of himself.

Figo told Marca:“If you have to ask me for a player that reminds me of the way I played, I’ll say that I really like Dembele.

“He’s had bad luck with injuries, but he has enormous potential.

“Then there are others like [Serge] Gnabry at Bayern Munich; he’s very good, young. They play as a winger and I like their self-confidence when it comes to one-v-ones.

Ansu Fati has also started like that. They’re players that I like because they like to take risks and they have no fear. And that’s important for teams that play with wingers.

“I also like [Cristian] Portu at Real Sociedad.”

Figo has further spoken about rumours revolving Lionel Messi leaving Barcelona next year – and he believes that will happen.

“I watched the thing with Messi and his attempt to leave Barcelona this summer like all football fans: expectantly and surprised,” Figo said as a guest at the MARCA Sport Weekend.

“He’ll have his motives and reasons for making that decision. I don’t know what happened beforehand.

“Every club wants to have a player like Messi, but then it depends on factors like the current financial situation at the club, the money he’ll cost the club in wages, the will of the player…

“But generally, in life, if you don’t want to be somewhere, in the end there’s nothing that can change your mind.”

Messi has named two demands needed to be fulfilled before he considers joining Manchester City.

The great Argentine forward was on the verge of leaving Barcelona in the summer transfer window but chose to spend the rest of the campaign at Camp Nou.

The Blaugrana didn’t allow Messi to leave for free and demanded £600m from any possible suitors if they wanted him.

He still wants to leave Barcelona and Manchester City are leading the race in securing his signature.

According to Argentine outlet El Chiringuito, via SportWitness, Messi wants assurances that Pep Guardiola and Sergio Aguero will still be at the club if he chooses to join Etihad.

Argentina national team manager Lionel Scaloni has called out VAR for refusing Argentina a winner against Paraguay.

Lionel Messi scored a goal in the second half, which everyone believed would lead to an Argentina win. However, due to the VAR, that was denied.

“I think that in some way it is necessary to seek to unify the issue of the VAR,” Scaloni told a news conference. “I am not talking in good or bad faith, but to unify criteria.”

Regarding a foul on Exequiel Palacios, Scaloni added: “We are left without a player for several days or months. The knock was there and VAR didn’t review it.”

“In the first 15 minutes the team did not go well. After the penalty I think it was all ours, honestly,” he said. “The team reacted, created situations, did what it had to do. We achieved a draw.

“We are leaving with a bittersweet taste because Argentina did everything to win. In the second half, we put the rivals behind. We must also value the attitude of the team, which always believed in achieving victory.”

Goalscorer Gonzalez adding: “I think in the first few minutes it cost us a lot but then we got up and came close to winning it. This is the way. We all know it’s not my position [left-back], but I always try to help the team.”

Griezmann’s uncle not happy with Messi

Antoine Griezmann has not had a good time at Barcelona.

The French World Cup winner moved from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona back in 2018.

He was the main player in Atletico and he ended up being the side player at Barcelona with Lionel Messi calling the shots.

His uncle has now called out the Argentine for being lazy.

“[Griezmann] was convinced that he wasn’t going to be successful within the first six months, but what he didn’t expect was that it would last an entire year,” Griezmann’s uncle is quoted as saying.

“Besides, with Messi, I know what’s going on inside [the club] – it’s not easy.

“Basically, [Messi] doesn’t work hard enough at Barca and the training sessions are structured in order to please certain people, which is fine if you don’t want to work [as hard].

“Antoine needs to work, even though others don’t need as much effort to play well. He’s the other way around – he needs to put in a lot of effort for himself.”

Griezmann and Messi have not gotten along as is the popular opinion. However, with Messi’s contract ending in the summer of 2021, Griezmann could take over.

Barcelona are a club in financial trouble.

Their last president Josep Maria Bartomeu recently stepped down from his post after a series of mishaps. It left the club in financial ruins but now they are in other forms of trouble as well as they need players injected in their squad.

Antoine Griezmann has been off form ever since he joined the club. Lionel Messi looks like a shadow of himself after being moved to a number nine position. Their only good attacking winger Ansu Fati has been injured and he is out for another two months.

Rivaldo, has now suggested that the club needs to look at new players.

“I thought Barcelona should sign someone before Ansu Fati’s injury, so now I think it even more,” Rivaldo said in his Betfair column. “The club should try to sign one or two strikers if they want to fight for the Champions League.”

“Koeman should have more options in attack to manage a line-up which is sufficiently decisive and competitive in big games, in important ties,” Rivaldo reflected. “Ansu was playing well, he was gaining confidence and becoming more influential in the team, his absence is another headache for the coach.”

Memphis Depay on Barcelona: “Who wouldn’t like to play there?”

Memphis Depay on Barcelona:

Memphis hasn’t ruled out his move to Barcelona.

He has said that ‘they are one of the best teams in the world’, clearly signifying his interest in the Catalan club.

“I don’t know about Barca. The transfer market is not open. My mind isn’t on that,” Depay told reporters after drawing 1-1 with Spain on Wednesday.

“I am trying to give my best, to play well in order to become a better player. There is a lot of speculation out there.

“Who wouldn’t like to play there? They are one of the best teams in the world. Everyone would like to play there, but I’m not thinking about that.”

However, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas says something different and is determined to make Depay stay back.

We have a lot of internationals for different countries, including Memphis, who is a leader,” Aulas told RMC Sport.

“Memphis, I’m not in love with him but I think he can bring to Lyon a dimension that everyone wants the club to have. But, no, we are seemingly not going to keep him [at the end of his contract].

“I was the first to say he would not go to Barcelona. Nobody listened to me during the transfer window because everybody thought he would leave.

“There is not only Memphis, but also Houssem Aouar and Moussa Dembele. From the start, I told you, they will not leave because in a year when we were unfairly deprived of European football, we absolutely have to make a success of the season. So he will stay.”
