Barcelona’s season in 2022/23 was marred by injuries, and the Catalans have already started to experience problems with some of its key defenders before the start of the current campaign
With the new season starting in less than a day, there were concerning indicators for Barcelona after Ronald Araujo experienced some discomfort versus Tottenham in the Joan Gamper match.
Andreas Christensen, a defender for Denmark, has also seen his fair share of ailments, the most recent of which being achilles tendon soreness that has kept him out of action for a while.
Journalist Javier Miguel, though, is back with positive news on both counts. According to Miguel, Christensen has resolved all of his problems and is prepared to resume his work.
There were worries that Barcelona would start the season without two of their vital first-choice center-backs after Araujo requested to be substituted in the Gamper. The substitution of the Uruguayan, it would appear, was only performed as a precaution since that time. Miguel says that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, both defenders will train with the team tomorrow.
Christensen will not be missing Barcelona’s season-opening match against Getafe, contrary to earlier reports, but this is still good news for everyone associated with the team. Jules Kounde has recently excelled in his chosen center-back position, which is good news if Christensen is to be introduced gradually to prevent any setbacks at the start of the season.
