But it seems that he will stay in Italy.
Due to Luis Suarez’s injury, that looks set to rule him out for the next few months, Barcelona are in the market for a new striker. As a result, they have contacted Lautaro Martinez‘s agent to enquire about the striker’s availability in January, says Diario Sport.
Barca consider the Argentina international as the perfect replacement to Suarez. The Blaugrana have been linked with a move for Lautaro for some time now and the Inter Milan’s stellar performances this season have only increased their interest in adding him to the squad.
However, a January move is impossible from a financial point of view. In addition, Inter don’t want to sell one of their key players. The Nerazzurri are battling on three fronts this season and consider their 22-year-old star player unsellable.
Lautaro, who joined in a circa €20 million deal back in the Summer of 2018, has netted 15 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions to date. He is under contract with Inter until 2023 and his contract has a €111 million release clause in it, but that clause is only valid for the first two weeks in July.
